Festive Fun

Happy New Year! It’s been quite an eventful few months but finally the gang are back together again. Some of us (Dave and Kay) stayed close and kept the ship on the right course whereas some lucky person went on her “gap year”. It wasn’t quite a gap year but Cally spent the last part of [More…]

GOT

No, it’s not Game of Thrones….it’s “Girls on Tour”… This year has already brought loss, milestone birthdays, retirement planning, sale contracts and lots of other life defining moments. With this in mind, it sometimes makes sense to slow down, take a deep breath and remind ourselves what is important and to spend time enjoying the [More…]

Bon Voyage

The summer is here and whilst we’ve locked up the workshop for the bank holiday, we still can’t resist enjoying some culture. August has taken us to the glorious Med where on a whistle stop tour of Corsica we found ourselves visiting Napoleon’s House…You can take the Upholsterer out of the workshop… Having visited the Warner [More…]

Fifty Chairs of Dave

We had a very enjoyable day near the Jurassic Coast at Corfe Village Hall on Sunday May 10th. Dave had a great idea to hold a crafty chair fair to showcase our talents in Upholstery, Caning, Rushing and Baking. Not only did we have many chairs on display but we also had demos going on [More…]

Return to Sender

We often discover items in chairs which have been left by previous upholsterers. Some leave notes whilst others leave remnants of the original fabric which is handy if you need to date a chair. We also have a jar in which we put items that have been dropped into the corners of the chairs and [More…]

Gorgeous Georgian

One of our clients is currently converting a chapel and wanted to re-cover her Georgian style wingback chair to furnish the new space. Much of September was spent on the job transforming it from a 1980s green velvet covered chair into contemporary wool covered gorgeousness. Marks on the chair frame showed it had been previously [More…]
